Environmental and health protection

The municipality´s overall objective is that Umeå should develop a satisfactory environment in the housing, leisure and private sectors which is sustainable in the long term. As a result, environmental and health protection issues are a key aspect of municipal planning, both in the short and the long term.

The environmental and Public Health Office is responsible for this area at the local level. The aspects which we believe affect you most, as a local citizen, are presented in the menu to the left. The Environmental and Public Health Office´ s responsibilities also cover environmental conservation, environmental monitoring and health and life-style issues.
