Grants for housing adaptation
The municipality approves grants for reasonable expenditures for the adaptation of housing accommodation to permit people with functional impairments to continue to live in their own homes.Housing adaptation grants are to be used for essential operations, such as the conversion of kitchens and bathrooms, wider door openings, the removal of door sills, the installation of ramps, improvement of pathways, removal of carpeting in the case of allergy sufferers, etc.
Grants are available for people with all types of functional impairment, for example reduced mobility, impaired vision, allergies, epilepsy, stoma or retarded mental development.
Grants are not subject to a means test, but there must always be a direct link between the steps taken and the functional impairment. Grants are not available in the case of temporary impairments.
